Generations Praise Team
The name GENERATIONS is appropriate for the band, since it includes several of the four generations from 10 years old (fourth grade) to over the age of 80. The team started with three generations, had all four possible for several months, went back to three, and now again have all four: the kids, a young adult, an older adult and the “old guy”.
HISTORY:
The praise team started after Leslie Clarke and Tom Cowgill attended a UMC district workshop held on that subject in January, 2005. It began with Leslie on her guitar and Tom on his d’jembe drum. Later, a generous family donated the money to purchase a drum set. After much hard work, some trials and tribulations and lots of prayer, the team "debuted" in May 2005 playing and singing for 15 minutes for the opening of Sunday School. The first 30 minute performance was on Rally Day in September 2005. They continued to practice, add members and play monthly for the Sunday School.
Generations was honored to play, for the very first time in the sanctuary, as part of the early Christmas Eve service in 2005. Followed by another "milestone" when they played a fifteen minute prelude to the Palm Sunday service in 2006.The first "gig" on the road was at The Shores at Wesley Manor for a twenty minute prelude to their service on August 13, 2006. On Rally Day 2006, Generations kicked off the resumption of Sunday School. They continued to play monthly and then again played as part of the early Christmas Eve service.
PRESENT:
Generations now plays regularly once a month for thirty minutes at the Sunday School.
