Music is a vital part of our ministry here at St. Peter's....we love to sing and to praise God with songs and insturments!
Throughout our history, music and the arts have been an integral part of the worship and life of this congregation. Through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stainton a pipe organ of American Classic design was built by the Moller Organ Company and placed in the Church Sanctuary in 1961. The organ contained over 2300 pipes some of which are exposed and some in chambers.
Due to the size and architecture of the sanctuary, sound was delayed in reaching the back of the church. In 1963 and Antiphonal division was installed in the rear of the sanctuary containing 549 pipes.
As part of the Development Fund in the late 1980’s, some releathering work was done on one division of the organ and in 1991 a new console was purchased.
During the organ's 30 years of service the leather in the wind chests and the pipe contacts wore out and some pipes needed to be replaced, along with some jumbled wires, silent notes and malfunctioning equipment. In 1999 an major organ restoration was undertaken and today we enjoy the results.
