The United Methodist Committee on Relief was founded more than 60 years ago
to help immigrants and refugees who are forced to flee their homelands
because of poverty, war and civil strife. And today this tradition continues.
There are some 12 million women, children, and men now adrift in the world as
refugees. They are either in refugee camps or are building new lives in
countries that have opened their doors to them. In the past 25 years the US
alone has provided a new start to more than 500,000 refugee families and
asylum seekers.
UMCOR responds to the emergency and ongoing needs of all uprooted peoples
wherever they may be found. With your help, we will be there offering hope
through community and church based programs that meet immediate needs
and prepare people to return home, or resettle in a new country.
