Pastor

Pastor Johnnie R. White

Rev. Johnnie R. White serves as pastor of Macedonia United Methodist of Ocean City, New Jersey. He loves people and believes the sentiments of “God’s people” are known for their love and compassion given to others.

While the outward influence of sin and selfishness may innately affect humankind, I believe all people are worthy of redemption. From my earliest remembrance, my faith has been nurtured through the Methodist Episcopal congregation I grew up in. Much of that experience is common to the congregation I now serve in the United Methodist church. It’s not so much a genealogical linage, but the reflection of love and assurance I find in the God and Father of all the world’s people. The Church of Jesus Christ is a place that represents the blessings of God through its sharing of hope and encouragement of the world.

On January 1, 1995, I was appointed to the local part-time ministry of Macedonia. I retired from Verizon Communications in December of 2001. My Pastoral Course Studies were completed at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. This July of 2007, I will complete the Advanced Course of Studies at Duke Divinity School, Durham North Carolina.

We live in a country where technological advances and economic achievements are at an all time high. Yet, hope for a brighter future has eluded many. Crime, use of drugs, and selfishness take center stage and demand our attention. The church will not sit ideally by...it has Good News for all who take time to hear…to see and receive the freedom from world drudgery…God in Christ offers life free of burden and helplessness. We are those waiting to share the Good News and show the way to blessedness that only God can offer. Our methods and explanations may appear a little far out…for those unfamiliar to the Christian experience, but if one would give their trust in God…they will share the joy of having God putting his spirit in them to overcome the most difficult obstacles in life.

The potential of hope and reconciliation pivots on acceptance of God’s love. The invitation is extended to all people through the Church of Jesus Christ. I pray all will come and receive.    [ read more...]
